so, AA never found my visor. and since my desktop machine is toast as well, i'm *completely* without all the information that was in the visor.

like when my doctors' appointments are. or even who the doctors are. so i guess today i'm going to call my PCP and say "hi. who did you refer me to again?" and then call them and see when my appointments are. i think there may be one this week, so i should get a move on with this.

*sigh*

well, i'm in london which is wonderful. unfortunately, i lost my palm pilot on the plane.

i had it when i was on the plane, and didn't have it after i'd gotten off the plane. i went back and asked the guys to look around for it, but they couldn't find it.

i'm guessing either someone picked it up, or it got kicked far enough away on the floor to not be around the seat. we have printouts of important information, so we arne't totally screwed, but i'm feeling very adrift without it.

on the other hand, hey, i'm in london and it's pleasantly cool and mildly drizzly and oh so british.

we're going to go over to speakers corner and then to a theater near victoria station to see "bombay dreams" and then to dinner.

my windows desktop box crapped out at the same time i was doing a flatten/rebuild/upgrade on my linux box.

how annoying.

but i've got the linux box mostly running (strangely, the 7.3 install doesn't seem to have included lynx or irc).

mailman isn't working and playing well with others, and i've got some postfix problems to iron out. but mostly working.

fuck cisco

so, i put a new card in a 2600. all goes well. i reboot, and a PREVIOUSLY EXISTING AND PROPERLY OPERATING interface loses its ip address and decides to come up in dhcp mode.

GAH! what a stupid fucking failure mode.

i've never seen that before. it took me a while to notice what was going on. it kept looking like some sort of fucked up routing thing on the far end of the WAN link.

it's fixed now. stupid cisco router.

grumble

even when it's "only a short drive", i really do have to strap down 8' lengths of 12" wide boards.

why, you ask? because if i cockily *don't do so, i end up scattering boards on the street after taking a tight corner.

HYPOTHETICALLY OF COURSE. I WOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING THAT STUPID. HONEST.

oh BAH. the other day? when i said "damn, i was sure i had baking powder but i can't find it so i went and got more"?

i just found the *other* container of baking powder. clearly, i should bake a lot and use them *both* up.
