dali. or should i say, DALI

i went to dinner with a friend of mine at dali. we wanted tapas and she wanted tasty sangria.

the food was very tasty. the sangria was tasty. but jesus mary and joseph, it may be the LOUDEST FUCKING RESTAURANT I'VE EVER BEEN IN.

okay, there was a bachelorette party near us, so that didn't help matters, particularly with their multiple rounds of flash photography. but man, it was loud.

According to the restaurant industry stuff that I vaguely follow occasionally, loud and close are in. I think it sucks. But I've lost count of the restaurant reviews I've read that talked positively about the "loud, exciting atmosphere". WTF?

yeah. *sigh*

even considering, tho, this seemed over the line for "loud", tho.

i mean, i don't need to have all my restaurant experiences be all "soft murmering waiters gliding softly about while you could hear a knife drop or a person yelp on the extreme far side of the restaurant". but i'd like to be able to hear my dinner companion talk without having to try and lip read a third of the words.
