curmudgeonly peeve-fest

some of my peeves on this dreary saturday:

  • "blog" as a verb.

  • the term "blogosphere".

  • election/political propaganda mailings and telephone calls. even from people/groups i agree with and support. i'm just tired of it.

  • my own sloth

feel free to comment and share your peeves today!

Oddly it is only just one.
Pet Peeves:
1) Hearing about that Bin La letter for days, but nor hearing it actually read. I had to hunt to find it.
2) Arisia email listing getting spammed. I'm getting it from to 2x.
3) Spam in general
4) finally having a sleepy babe, but lying in bed watching the clock bcause I can't sleep!

Etymology

If "blog" as a verb bothers you, does "log"? That's the derivation, and we've been "logging" entries for at least a couple hundred years (if not longer).

But if you become a Luddite, you'll have to start writing your LJ entries by hand and mailing them in.

Except that instead of mailing them in, you'll need to use them as toilet paper before balling them up and throwing them at villagers below to type or mail them in for you.

I'll also have to learn phrases like "tool of the corporate whores" and

okay, brain derailed

That's what you get for tightening your chain too much. Now you'll need a whole new derailleur.

Sign me up for the propoganda calls and flyers and signs.

The phone rang this morning at 9am, and Tim picked it up with 'I already voted, what do you want?' and all I could do was cheer. Of course, it was my Mom. But she understands.

So tired of this election. Can't wait for Wednesday.
