BANLIEUE 13

okay. district b13 was everything i wanted it to be and a bag of chips. (seriously, they were giving away bags of chips and fruit leather, although i passed because i'd just had tasty sushi from hana before the show)

BOSTON AREA PEOPLE - if you're not busy tonite, consider checking out the midnight show tonite at the coolidge. it's co-written by luc besson. it's got one of the guys who founded parkour in it.

yes, this film completely fails the "dykes to watch out for" test.

no, i don't care.

i *was* pleased that the female character demonstrated some initiative and did not sit around simply looking adoringly as the menfolks went off to do menfolk things. MICHAEL BAY AND JERRY BRUCKHEIMER, I AM LOOKING AT YOU WHEN I SAY THIS.

I think Bruckheimer hired an editor who sniffs crystal meth for breakfast. The latest episodes of some of the shows he has on CBS have been giving me headaches, and not because of the plot.

I got to see this last year around this time at SIFF. It's a blast! I remember that after the first big rooftops chase scene, the ENTIRE audience burst into applause. This movie ain't the best written thing (though I thought surprisingly smarter than it could have been) but it is F.U.N!

We have a copy at Scarecrow for rent - an import, which much to our great amusement writes its subtitles in "gangsta" speak. I shit you not. ;) Hi-larious!
