oh yeah.

my usual roofers have passed on fixing the chunk of roof that's going bad, here, since they're busy and it's not slate -- it's the (comparatively) small piece of roof that's regular old shingle. anyone got a shingle/asphalt/rubber roofer they like who does work in somerville?

if your talking about somerville NJ I can probably find someone. I cannot say I like any of them because I dont really know any of them. I work at Fastenal in middlesex and we have several roofing customers.

give cortez construction a call - they recently did a very tidy repair on my mansard for a reasonable price ($320 as opposed to $500 quoted by The Other Leading Brand) and they were super nice to work with. it's a family business: a sister, her three brothers, and their old man. they just moved into the store front on the corner of lowell and medford. 617-627-9878

since cortez is a known-by-people-i-know good, i think i'm going to try out the other place with workers who live near me -- stealth construction. that way i can see if i like them and then later this year i'll get bids from them and cortez for the front porch.

Good luck! And don't feel too bad. I need a whole new roof. At least I finally have a job now, so maybe I can pay for it.

ugh. but hooray for having a job, finally.

there's something particularly stressful about needing roof repairs. i think it's that idea that you could get rained on or something.
