what's on my mind?

things i am pondering at this very moment:

1. i leave for BARGE (to be followed by a trip to seattle) this week. yay!
1a. i must do laundry.
1b. perhaps i should repurple some of my hair.
2. i've been considering buying a metal detector for my dad. the boston globe is reading my mind. or something
3. somewhat related (my folks live next to a salt-water tidal river) - i wonder if i could hack a CPAP machine to sit around on a boat or dock and provide safe pumped air via tube for shallow underwater breathing. (figure, 10' or 12' max.) really, it would just be a case of hacking the mask/mouthpiece rather than the cpap itself.
4. middleboro, ma, wants to set up a casino. woot! come on legislature! approve! APPROVE!
5. i have never in my life been so tempted to buy a crossstitch kit

I won't be the only woman with purple hair at BARGE this year?!

Actually, mine is almost completely blonde right now. It's kinda scary.

not, like, *PURPLE* purple. just over some of the gray. but it's fading a bit faster than i expected, so i may have to just reapply. :-)

I hope the MA legislature goes all puritan and rejects it. NV has lots of competition already, and I don't want my taxes to go up; we want the suckers to come here to lose their money!

think of it as a program to encourage problem gamblers. they'll discover a taste for gambling and then go to NV for *bigger* gambling.

it's a recruiting tool. :-)

"i've been considering buying a metal detector for my dad."

I keep thinking of renting a metal detector and searching the backyard of the house Ann grew up in. According to family legend, her mother lost not one, but two gold wedding rings while gardening.

"i wonder if i could hack a CPAP machine to sit around on a boat or dock and provide safe pumped air via tube for shallow underwater breathing."

If you put your finger on the tube, how much pressure does it put out?

I think that's a great cross-stitch kit.

For #3, ask google about "hookah diving". (No, really.) CPAP machines are way too low-pressure for that application, though.

The other thing this is known by is "SNUBA". The CPAP will be too weak. Water's heavy stuff!

How about making yourself a diving bell?
