slacking on my dykely duties

I occasionally feel like I'm slacking on my dykely duties. Not the "being attracted to and having sex with women" part, which I'm totally down with. But the more cultural things. I don't watch Ellen. And perhaps even more importantly, I don't watch Rachel Maddow.

I mean, c'mon - she's a Masshole liberal dykey anti-O'Reilly. I feel like I should totally be watching her show. Or listening to it as a podcast. Or whatever the kids are doing these days. I mean, as a general thing. I certainly enjoy her show when I do happen across it.

But then I see clips like this one and I realize that I am TOTALLY MISSING OUT by not watching her. I mean, THE CHICK HAS A LIGHT SABRE! WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?

She is a nerdly person. All the suite and makeup are just a front.

Plus she's kind of sane. I'm only avoiding her show right now because I'm avoiding all politics.

(Or rather, I binge on politics and then flee, but a steady diet of talk shows would kill me.)

I'm a binge and fleer, too. I'm just in the flee phase right now.

Dykely or not. I don't generally watch the whole show but I catch bits now and then.

Seeing as I don't watch TV at all, I'll add her to the list of things I look out for online. That was wonderful. I loved her delivery. Straighforward, matter-of-fact despite the magical topic.

I love Rachel Maddow, but I find that watching one or two episodes a week is enough. She has a tendency to decide that some issue isn't receiving enough coverage, and so she will cover it in exhaustive detail for ~20 minutes of the show every night until she's satisfied.

It's a worthy endeavor, but after a while, when I get to the part of the show that's "Rachel Covers [Important But Neglected Issue of the Fortnight]", I just have to fast-forward until I get to stories like the light sabre clip.

Also, at first she stayed away from the pundit echo chamber, but as she herself has been getting more exposure, she's been jumping in.

Still totally love her, but I haven't been watching TV at all the last couple weeks, and I can't say I've missed it.
