Well, crap

Well, crap. So, I guess for now we hang on til the midterm elections. And I continue to hope that my marriage remains legally recognized at a federal level until then. (And, you know, after.)

Sadly, the midterm map does not look good for Dems.

Unlike stripping people of health insurance, which can be done almost immediately, pushing through a case to SCOTUS will take a couple years.

See how things look in 2020. Man I was seriously wrong about 2028/2032, I really need to do a self review and diagnostic.

I think, and deeply hope, that it would not be easy to repeal marriage equality since that would have to delegitimise current marriages , and allowing some to stand and not later ones would not stand

I hope so too, but I think they'll try. I mean, I would think it should be settled law based on Loving v Virginia, but, hell, with the white supremacist part of the US evidently on the rise, maybe they'll try to roll that back, too. Sort of how they've stopped directly targeting Roe and targeting Griswold since that's where the rationale for Roe came from.
