weird drugs, man.

there's a brand of thyroid replacement hormone that comes in pill form, and the pills are in the shape of little tiny thyroid glands.

that's just ... silly.

Maybe, but I like it!

I don't even know what shape thyroid glands are, really. My imgaination says "blobby."

apparently, sort of bowtie-shaped.
http://www.levoxyl.com (http://www.levoxyl.com) has pictures of their pills.

I like the phrase on that page: "Levoxyl® is what the best dressed thyroids will now be wearing." Whoa. It never occurred to me to wonder if my thyroid was under-dressed.

That's thyroid-shaped?

Who knew?

I've been dosing on levoxyl for years now. I figured it was just a weird shape to keep you from confusing it with all the other pills. (I tend to carry vitamins, advil and my prescription drugs in the same tin when I travel.)

see! my livejournal is so educational!

yeah, my doc just started me up on it. i'm titrating up, starting at 25 mcg for this week, then to 50 for a while, and eventually to 75 mcg. apparently, my thyroid missed the news about what happened to the last organ that slacked off in my body and has started snoozing on the job.

"I am Jack's Slackful Thyroid Gland."

I'd buy birth control pills in the shape of little babies with a circle and a line through them.

Thalidomide has pictures of pregnant women with circle-slashes on the pills themselves, as an extra layer of "if you at all remotely could be pregnant Do Not Take This !!!!". Kinda freaky.
