a fair trade

so, i talked to the person who gave me the atkins book. i explained that his gift was the tackiest and most offensive gift i've ever gotten. (his answer to "what did you *think* my reaction would be?" was that he figured i'd enthusiastically join him on his quest for a carb-free existence. what-fucking-ever.)

i told him i'd try it for a month if and ONLY if he reads "wake up i'm fat" (camryn manheim's wonderful book)

which seems a fair trade.

I *still* think you shoulda crammed the book up his ass and then exclaimed "oh no! CARBS! WHATEVER SHALL YOU DO??"

A fair trade indeed. Let's see if he agrees to it.

a "FAIR" trade would be to give him toilet paper cuz he's cleary a needy asshole.

well, that was a success. i got an incredibly apologetic phone call after he got to the "making the shame run on time" bit in the book. apparently, he was unaware that there was any kind of big cultural emotional baggage associated with this sort of thing. i am amused.

Jeeus. I'm glad he made with the apologies. I can't believe how men can be so intensely clueless about weight issues. You definitely need to make him read "Wake Up I'm Fat." I love that book so much.

hmmm, he still clings to this idea you're not a mature adult capable of making personal decisions on your own without the aid of people who clearly aren't qualified to be doing so? double hmmmmm

"diet" book
