lagaan has been sitting on my tivo for about 5 months, since i kept being daunted by its 3 hour and 45 minute run-time. i finally watched it last night -- was a fun movie. the heroines were beautiful, the hero was noble, the villains were ... well... british, and the musical numbers were enormous. (the music was written by the same person who wrote the music for "bombay dreams".)
that followed by a long night's sleep seems to have done a good job of taking the edge of my grumpiness about travel issues.

Date: 2003-12-07 06:19 pm (UTC)The composer, A. R. Rahman, is a 500 lb. gorilla of Hindi cinema music. _Bombay Dreams_ used melodies from songs he's written for movies, but with all the lyrics completely ignored. I will always hate _Bombay Dreams_ for killing one of my favorite songs from the movie "Taal".
But that's just me. I'm a giant freak. ;-)
