so, i had planned on driving down to CT to play in a charity poker tournament run by some folks i know thru rec.gambling-related activities. that was saturday afternoon.

friday, i got to leave work early because it was a "summer friday" and things closed a bit early.

and it seemed silly to drive to ct to play poker without stopping for a while at foxwoods. so of course i drove down there friday afternoon with the plan of playing at fw till late, driving off and finding a hotel to spend the night, then heading off to the tournament and then driving home.

all went according to plan except i forgot to actually stop playing poker and go to sleep at some point. i ended up in a 2/4 omaha h/l game that got shorthanded and i didn't want to be the one to break the game, plus i was doing okay. so we kept going till about 7am. and it seemed silly to go try to sleep then, so i bought into a 1/2 nlhe game and played there for a while and had a few learning experiences. (learning experience #1: in a capped buy-in game when i sit down to discover several people have several times more than the max buy-in, request a table change.)

i left fw in time to drive down to the charity tournament, which was fun. i was a bit punchy when i left there so i stopped at one of the rest areas on I-95 and napped for a little bit then drove the rest of the way home.

If you need a recommendation for a reasonable motel nearby FW, let me know, I am staying in one this week to work at the museum. Clean and comfortable and reasonably priced.
