That looks like a useful atlas. Once you get out of range of the Automobile Association of South Africa (http://www.aasa.co.za/live/index.php)'s coverage area that atlas would come in handy. South Africa is covered by the AA South Africa and locally available commercial map vendors just about as well as anywhere in the First World; Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, and Swaziland reasonably well; Mozambique not so well outside the corridor to Maputo; then that's about it. Most overlanders stick to the obvious and beaten track--there's plenty of traffic between Cape Town and Nairobi, for example--which is no problem.
The Michelin mapset is useful for an overview--the sub-Saharan maps are tacked up on the wall of the bar at Long Street Backpackers in Cape Town--but isn't really that detailed.
And Stephen Balbach is right, it would be really great to have ones for Asia and South America. Lonely Planet had a few that cover various bits--Cambridge Library, Central Square branch has an old edition of their India and Nepal atlas--but it looks from their website that they've given up on the atlas business. Which is sad, considering they're doing calendars, puzzles, and playing cards.
I've never seen the Expedition Guide. Do you have one? If so, can I come over and have a look at it sometime? Nearly all the overlanders I met drove Toyota Land Cruisers, and I'd like to see how much mention there is of that vehicle in particular.
