so, yesterday i had a moment where my train of thought went "i would do this thing tomorrow except i have to go to work tomorrow." and suddenly stopped dead in my tracks stuck on the phrase "i have to go to work tomorrow". it was staggering. weird. freaky. kind of threw me off kilter.
anyways, today i did go to work. and i had several moments of intese homesickness for my previous job because, well, i knew everything going on and everyone and had bunches of friends there and had been there for nearly 6 years. whereas this job was strange and full of things i didn't even begin to know and i have to climb the learning curve and establish my cluefulness to strangers and my brain was really full at the end of the day.
plus, i don't have an office - with or without an officemate. i don't have a cube, even. it's an open plan office with a bunch of 8' tables shoved together into a big U shape. (i've already raised the issue of a keyboard tray because of my RSI issues, and they're totally cool with that.)
at the moment, i don't even have a filing cabinet or a ped or a bookcase. i feel so adrift.
also, no beer o'clock on fridays.
however, every two weeks they pay me bunches of money, so i think i can deal. :-)
and now i have come home from work (after what ended up being a 9.5 hour day!) and have feasted on tasty chinese food that i had delivered (yay service economy! and yay leftovers!) and i'm going to go to sleep because i'm really really tired.
