mmmmm. that irony taste. no, really.

i now have a new cast iron frying pan and a new two-sided griddle that should fit over two burners on my stove for griddley goodness. i did a quick seasoning on the frying pan and then made sausage gravy with biscuits for dinner last night, and now i've got the griddle getting its first seasoning in the oven.

i wonder how many "NOOOOOO" comments i could get if i said "so, this stuff's dishwasher safe, right?"

so, the current "roast beef" thread on a mailing list i'm on had me craving good beef, so i icked up a roast at the market and roasted it -- the first time i've engaged in unsupervised roasting of beef. it turned out okay. it was 9pm when i finally got back from the market, and i wanted to eat while it was still saturday, so i cooked it at around 300F until 110F internal temp, then up to 500F until 120F internal temp. all in all, an emminently passable roast. the potato chunks ended up way WAY overdone, but the meat was all tasty, and there's enough left for me to have roast beef sandwiches for lunch several days this week.

now claudia and i are trapped in tasty beef coma. luckily, the tivo has many episodes of "trading spaces" and "changing rooms" for viewing. :-)
