thursday, claudia discovered that common rotation and davinci's notebook were playing at the iron horse in northampton and that tickets were still available. so she got a pair of tickets, for that and then we went to a thursday night show of platypus rex at the kirkland on the somerville/cambridge line.

friday we drove out to northampton, getting there just in time for the show, and had a grand old time watching both bands. (i didn't get a chance to tell CR that emily from alaska says "hi", just to mess with them). the CR set was acoustic, and they did a good job and put in a pretty solid performance. DV had some microphone problems early and it put them off onto a really weird mood, it seemed, and they were even more scattered than usual. on the other hand, during request-o-rama, they covered the TROGDOR THE BURNINATOR themesong, so that was cool.

we stopped into a bookstore and browsed a bit on our way back to the car. one of the things we bought was a copy of "under milkwood", which claudia read to me on the ride home. wonderfully wordy, and it kept me quite awake.

saturday, i got up early and managed to get claudia up early as well and we met my brother john and all went to the cape where i ended up hauling branches around and doing bits of yardwork. it was john's birthday, so on the cape the three of us had lunch with my brother ed and my folks, and then after we came back from the cape the three of us went out to dinner near his place. the buildings were blocking the sound from the springsteen concert (my brother lives in the fenway neighborhood), but not the sound of the helicopters hovering directly above us. in spite of that, we had fun dining with john's friend m. and his neighbor l.

it was late and i was totally wiped by the time we got home, and ended up falling asleep instead of heading back out to catch the tail end of sunspiral and roozle's party. oops.

sunday was a combination of slackfulness and a bit of cleaning, and i finally weed-whacked the edges of my foundation and the wall bordering the sidewalk. then more puttering around the house and a bunch of quality tivo time snuggled next to my girlfriend.
