woke up feeling like my back was spasming at around 0300, plus a couple of rounds of nausea (that thankfully didn't actually result in horking). whimpered and wibbled about it until about 0430 at which point claudia and i went to the ER. they ran tests. nothing's apparently wrong. otoh, they pushed another .6 of a litre of saline into me, so if i was in danger of being dehydrated i'm certainly not any more.

best guess is that this is some kind of really unpleasant digestive system thing as my body starts to boot up after several days of no food and lots of opiates.

EDITED LONG AFTER THE FACT: this was actually because of a giant tumor. skip ahead to around christmas for more details on that.

looking at http://www.geekandproud.net/terror/, i notice we've been at yellow alert for quite a while, continuously. we're not "guarded", we're not at "high" alert. we're just continually "elevated". which has become ... "normal".

considering the confusion and mockery that resulted the last time we went to orange (quick! seal yourselves in an airtight room with tarps and duct tape!), want to bet we're never going to budge from "yellow" unless there's an actual attack on US soil? at which point we'll go to red (that is to say, martial law)
