Oct. 17th, 2010 09:06 amMy brother has a master's degree! He graduated yesterday from Northeastern's College of Professional Services. Hooray!
After the graduation ceremony, my stepmother and I gave him a graduation card that contained a pair of low-denomination gift cards for the itunes store. And then I whipped out an apple store bag containing an ipad and an ipad case and explained that now he had something to spend the itunes store cards on. He was pleasantly gobsmacked by the ipad. (Yes, this is why I was asking for ipad/kindle opinions.)
So that's all good.
On the other hand, Saturday morning was a bit scattered for me. Around 4am or so, there was a knocking on my apartment door. The *inside* door. Turns out the CO detector in the common hall had started malfunctioning and was beeping. It woke the tenant, who was (understandably) concerned that OMG WE WERE GOING TO DIE FROM THE CARBON MONOXIDE. Happily, it was just the little "hello! something is wrong with my internals" lower beeping, not the OH GOD GET OUT OF THE HOUSE loud alarm. We tried swapping the backup battery which didn't help, so I took it to replace. But then I was QUITE AWAKE for a long time and overly sleepy for much of the day.
Unfortunately, the overly sleepy caught up with me after the post-graduation dinner, and I proceeded to be attacked by sloth and doziness and never made it out to my later plans for the evening. harrumf. But I had GIANT SLEEP last nite, so yay.
