archaeology from above!

http://www.historicaerials.com/ has aerial photography for a bunch of areas around the US (including lots of good coverage of the greater Boston area) for various years, so you can zoom in on a current-ish map and then select different years. Very cool to see the old West End and Scollay Square, as well as Davis Sq back when the train ran directly through it. I notice that prior to the early 1970's there was something that looks to be a big apartment building on the space around the corner from me that's now ABJ.
