It's nice to know I actually *can* still get a snake from one end of a plumbing chase to the other, even if there is a void along the path that's big enough that you could hide a ginormous wall-safe in there. Took a few tries, both snaking up and snaking down, but I managed to get it. Grunt.

Now I have wires hanging out of a hole in my bathroom wall. It's nearly 8pm after 9pm when I finally posted this, and I think it's a bad time to start ripping the kitchen apart, so I've stashed the slack in a small coil safely out of the way for now.

Also, I love that home depot sells 100' coils of romex instead of just the 250' coils. I got a pair of them on the theory that if I'm snaking a wire, I may as well snake two of them. (I considered getting a roll of 12/3 instead of 12/2, but this way I don't have to worry about getting the two hot legs on different phases of the panel.)

I took today off from work (now that I'm no longer in my probationary period and *can* take time off) because I had a use-it-or-lose-it personal day that expires at the end of the month. So I got a haircut, provided taxi service for a recently anaesthatized [livejournal.com profile] chhotii, dropped [livejournal.com profile] clauclauclaudia out in the wilds of JP since I was heading to the Longwood medical area anyways and it's not that far out of my way and I'd rather save Claudia some walking in the rain, attempted to give blood[1] at Boston Children's blood donation center, got lunch at the Super 88, bought new sneakers at the new balance factory store, went to home depot, and came home to finally get those fucking wires snaked. I also managed to actually phone my mortgage broker guy to see about refinancing. (note to self: generate a pile of paperwork to fax to the guy.) Also shot, burned, and blew some stuff up over the internet by means of TF2.

So, yeah, productive day.

[1] So, yeah, that's annoying -- this is the second time in several months where I've tried to donate blood and ended up having an iron level *just* under the donation limit. (iirc, the limit is 12 and I read at 11.8.) I'll try a plain old OTC supplement for now and if things haven't improved by the time I get bloodwork done for my August dr's appt, I'll mention it to my doc.
