balance in all things.
plus: spent an evening mucking about with fabric paint and got no paint where it shouldn't be (like on my pants or my tablecloth).
minus: hit myself in the face with a plate last night and put a small chip in my front tooth.

it had a spot jaggedly sharp enough that i actually took an emery board and filed it down just a tiny bit. (two or three passes with one of the pink "finish" sort of nail boards, so, it's not like i was filing my teeth. just, er, finishing my teeth.)

plus: this month is the anniversary of brown v board of education
minus: this month is the anniversary of the chinese cultural revolution.

random historical events with their anniversaries today:
=today is the anniversary of the defenestration of prague.
=captain kidd was executed for piracy on this day in 1701.
=bonnie and clyde were killed this day in 1934.

i'm not planning on playing in any of the wsop stuff this year. i'm not planning to travel to LV until BARGE. i've been playing in some of the cheap superduperhypermeta-satellites on stars, but have so far failed to win a seat and my "what the hell, let's try it" limit is near.

They threw Prague out a window? Where did they find a window big enough? (Or did they throw it out of the proverbial window?)

I had to go look this up, because I read it and thought, "Surely they don't mean defenestration, or perhaps defenestration doesn't mean what I always thought it did." They did and it does, but not all of Prague was defenestrated, just some choice bits, so saying, "defenestration of Prague" is like saying, "tour de France". As in, no, France isn't going for a tour, the tour's happening in France.

It was a pretty funny defenestration -- a mob got pissed off and threw these guys out of a window and they landed on a big pile of shit. No wonder we commemorate the anniversary; I know I've wanted to do that to a few people in power.

As I live and breathe. From a page on what to see and do in Prague (http://www.stemcvee.supanet.com/prague3.htm):

History buffs may appreciate the Bohemian Chancellery where in 1618 a mob of Protestant noblemen chucked a couple of crown-appointed Catholic officials out of the window. The officials survived by virtue of landing on a heap of shit but the event (known as the Second Defenestration of Prague) was a catalyst for the 30 Years War.

defenestration of Prague

I had to look that up. I just couldn't imagine what one would throw out a window that would make it a significant event...I suppose throwing politicians is significant, especially since there were sharp spears below. Hmm...that gives me ideas...
