i'm considering signing up for nanowrimo this year.

mmmm. repetetive strain injuries and lack of sleep.

Definitely both. Sure you could write a novel the normal way. But that could take years, and cost millions of lives. No, in this case, you have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.

And you're just the one to do it. :)

(Good luck!)

I keep thinking about this but November is always exactly the wrong time of year for me. This year it's Baby Time, but last year it was something else. I may just try to do it on my own some time in January.

What's your book gonna be about?

Go for it

I'm already working on one. I decided not to wait for NANO. I'm 31,000 words into it.

I started early and will likely finish late. I do hope, however, I can get one of those nifty "Ask me about my novel!" stickers like the one Patti has on her laptop.

they're having a "write a screenplay" month in, i think, june. so you could do that instead.

This year it's Baby Time

see! you won't be sleeping anyways!

I'm not gonna get mine done in a month, but I think this year's nanowrimo will be my occasion to really get it in gear.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

p.s. mine has lesbians in it!

Go for it! But you have to have an idea or two to really make it work. Saying "I dunno" won't get you through the month.

How about a bunch of folks who adopt one another and help one another deal with the insanity that is life? Nah, never work, not believable enough! ;-)

May I please read it once it's done (whatever done is defined to be)?
Hugs,
M

Cool idea! Not dumb - possibly insane, but not dumb. Don't plan on having Thanksgiving at your place if you do, though... you'll be too busy!

So, are you gonna do it or what?

i'm waffling. a lot.

on the one hand, hey, i bet i could totally write a novel! 50K words? SURE!

on the other hand, i don't actually have any novel ideas. (pun intentional)

on the other other hand, i have been kicking around an idea for a fictional sort of business book -- business continuity and disaster recovery for zombie and other unexpected issues. (i've been on a kick lately about various kinds of operational wonking and how things break and how people deal, plus, i've been on a zombie kick for a while.)

on the other other hand, i may as well do it because otherwise i'll never do it. (i realize that sentence is kind of weirdly self referential and recursive, but it makes sense in my head.)
