so, shortly after moving to somerville, i bought a cat tree for my kitties. after a couple of years, they'd shredded parts of the rug covering it. so i wrapped it with sisal rope. and over the years, they shredded that. so this past weekend, i pulled all the rope off and re-wrapped it. then i took the long parts of the old rope and tied it around the column for EXTRA SCRATCHING-SURFACE, which is why there's a bunch of loose-ish looking rope tied on top of the tightly wound stuff.

God, I'd forgotten about those Heaven's Gate nutters. I read the wikipedia entry, saw the following (after descriptions about how the cult's members lived a monastic lifestyle, some of them voluntarily undergoing castration "as an extreme means of maintaining the ascetic lifestyle"), and had to laugh:

Another "me too" on the fat rant. But, ya know, she's not really fat, 'cause I outweigh her by two whole pounds! Self-image is funny; I really was thinking "but she's not fat" for far too much of that video. What a waste of brain cycles.

Now I want a T-shirt that just says "fat" on it above a dynamically updating weight display (to go along with the skin-tight sweat pants with "fat ass" written in glitter across the back). I think that would be more taboo than my Blackbeard's Rugged Tampons shirt.
