what i did on my summer vacation with clauclauclaudia

went to BARGE. discovered that i suck at poker. (several episodes of boat over boat makes a grumpy and easily tilted regis.) confirmed that BARGE r00lz, regardless of my lack of skill at luck.

managed to register for DEFCON but completely failed to actually make it back up to the strip for any programming. (next time i try to do both events, rent a car even if it means less boozing. the extra effort required to cab up the strip was apparently too high a barrier to exiting drunken slackfulness)

went to seattle and had an incredibly lazy vacation. i had a list of things i was thinking of doing and i managed nearly none of it. i saw a bunch of people but not quite as many as i'd hoped to. but since it was a vacation to recover from my vacation, i'm pretty much okay with that. i met many fine and adorable small people.

got home sunday morning

spent sunday snoozing and catching up on mail and letting the cats lay on me and purr aggressively.

monday, made it to work and started catching up.

this morning, i woke up extra early to do some offhours work and then got a wave of nausea that had me sitting on the edge of the tub reading and waiting to hurl. never did manage more than a bit of heaving (although i think i'd have felt better if i had), but i lay down for a while and napped and felt better when i woke up around noon. i'm not sure if i caught whatever annathepiper had or if it's something else, but whatever it is, it can finish kicking my ass ANY GODDAMNED TIME NOW.

boring media update: TNT has made a miniseries of littell's "The Company" (a book i read a few years ago and greatly enjoyed). it's a pretty good adaptation so far.

Apparently the "gotta hurl" bug is going around. 2 people at work had it. Luckily not me. It seems to be short lived, only about 24 hours.
