last nite's dreams and my boring waking life

so, last night, i woke up remembering a somewhat odd dream involving roof leakage, assorted architectural details of a house i don't live in (and have never lived in) and dealing with my cats and an interloper that i thought was a wet cat but turned out to be a guinea pig (and even in my dream, i thought "shit, i should get rid of this. i should call starkeymonster because she knows about piggies").

then i woke up early but later than i'd hoped to and picked up my brother and drove to the cape. my stepmother's dad had been put on 'comfort care' a day or two ago and finally died this morning. honestly, i'm glad the guy didn't linger too long.

we moved some televisions around for my folks (i may have a free (working) tv to give away, btw.) and went out to breakfast and came back and moved a big floating log out from under the dock where it had been wedged after some recent storm. we hung out till midafternoon and then drove back so my brother could find out why his car isn't working.

i was worried about traffic, since it's a holiday weekend, but even though we didn't leave my brother's place til 740 or so, we had no traffic heading south, and there was no traffic to speak of heading off-cape when we left at 3pm.

clauclauclaudia's off being socially geeky with some friends of hers, and i'm feeling antisocial - or maybe just unsocial since i don't hate people, i just don't want to be around them at the moment - and puttering around the house.

big plans for the weekend are to clean the bedroom, particularly the under-bed area to take advantage of the fact that the bed is going away on tuesday to be replaced by a different, new, much better bed.

funeral on thursday in western MA. so i plan to get up early, drive like hell, be somber, have lunch, and then go to work. or something like that.

Hey babe, my sympathies to your stepmom, but yeah, I suspect life is easier for a lack of lingering.

We had a delightfully mellow day too... I slept most of it while the BF Got Stuff Done. Then we went off for a nice ride in the lovely day, picked up some supplies (SUPPLIES!) for the weekend, and came home to make a nice dinner and watch a kick-ass no-hitter (the Sox won).

i heard about the no-hitter from feste_sylvain's post about it last nite (http://feste-sylvain.livejournal.com/145016.html). from a newbie pitcher, even! let's keep that boy in the red sox system. we like that one.

I'm sorry to hear about your stepmom's dad. Please give her a hug from me. (If I send you an email later, will you give me your stepmom's mailing address so I can send a card?)
