once in a while...
Jun. 6th, 2003 06:37 pmlife is not only good but downright great. i took today off to get some stuff done and because it looked like it was going to be gorgeous. i got some stuff done in the morning, which let me slack off all afternoon guilt-free.
i spent the bright sunny afternoon motorcycling around on pleasant backroads (nominally to get the bike inspected, but it took two trips since i grabbed the '02 registration the first time instead of the '03). unfortunately the second trip made me too late to pick up a new parking permit for the truck. i wandered down to davis square where i snagged a parking lot and parked so that other bikes could share and in fact one did just as i was finishing up my parking job. conveniently, he even paid the meter (which was good since i was out of quarters). i went into diesel, got a caesar salad wrap and a lemonade and sat around reading "bay windows".
and it was around then that i realized that if i had considered a "how life would work out really fabulously" scenario back when i was 20, i think that making it to 37 and ending up with a fabulous long term girlfriend and a life where i could go out motorcycling on a nice june day and then sit in a cafe named "diesel" watching cute people walk by and reading about how gay pride festivities are downright mainstream these days... well... i think that would fit the bill.
