i may have to watch a bunch of adorable comedies in her honor. (first and foremost, "the desk set", followed by "adam's rib", i'd say.)

As a nerd, who could not like "The Desk Set"? I've always like "Woman of the Year" for the waffle scene.

For less fluffy movies I'd recommend "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" or "The African Queen".

yeah, "the african queen" is a great film, too. i've never actually seen "guess who's coming to dinner". and then, of course, there's "lion in winter" (anthony hopkins' first role, i think).

Fabulous movie. Amazingly funny. Biting humor.

Other things of hers I love: Bringing Up Baby, Sylvia Scarlett (Hepburn! In Drag! For like the whole movie!), and The Philadelphia Story.

Yeah, I saw that last night when I got home. So sad. She was my favorite actress when I was growing up. I pretty much saw all but I think 3 of her movies. I actually got to see her once in person - she lived two towns over from me when I lived in Old Lyme. I was working at a movie theater and she came in to see a matinee of War of the Roses. ;) Pretty neat. :)

Another must see KH is Stage Door - what an amazing cast! Katherine, Lucille Ball, Ginger Rodgers, Adophe Menou! Yowza! I also love the very rare and hard to find Keeper of the Flame with Spencer Tracy, and I also love her in Pat and Mike and State of the Union ... also with Spencer. :)
