i had my tonsils and uvula removed today.

i will never make that "snore" snorting sound ever again.

i have industrial grade narcotics, but it still sucks.

Uvula always reminds me of Saturday Night Live skits.

Glad you won't snort no more. Sorry it suck, but that is likely transitory.

Meh. That is sucky indeed. Popsicles help somewhat. Especially teh ones made with lots of fruit. The coldness soothe your throat and hey popsicles.

so far, orange sherbert is being best. i've also got some italian ice, some nice sweet cream ice cream, and assorted popsicles.

Aie. Is it just an airway improvement thing, or was there something else going on?

I had my adenoids out when I was 12. The thing they don't thell you is that "all the ice cream you want" isn't very much because you don't want any damn ice cream, you hurt too much!

Hope you heal up nicely and soon.

yeah, hopefully it'll do some substantial airway improvement.

how about sorbet?

From: [identity profile] rmd.livejournal.com
i figured sorbet might be good. i laid in a stock of various cold things. at the moment, the sherbert is rocking my world.

well, that and the narcotics in liquid form. those are pretty cool, too.

is that a brand name? i'm on oxycodone. i've also got some liquid tylenol for some time several days from now when i might want something between "knock me on my ass" and "nothing"

i considered asking, but then figured i wouldn't. i figure it can get incinerated and join the ashes of my uterus floating around in the jetstream or something.

You're not!

And, all things considered, I'd rather have the uvula taken than other parts!

rmd, I hope you feel better soon, and that you have plenty of ice cream and people to give you loves.

Wow. I hope things hurt less real soon. Unobstructed breathing will be nice though. If you need anything at all, please feel free to ask. We'd be happy to bring you cold or soft things to eat, or anything else.

oops :) dammit, I need to remember that [livejournal.com profile] deguspice and I are *not* the same, despite what the folks on #elbows think.

So, that was me. And I said that Painkillers are your best friend, in hopes of averting any desire on your part to see how little painkiller it takes to "get by." I will forever remember [livejournal.com profile] lyonesse gently instructing me to follow the directions on the bottle and take the *maximum* dose rather than the *minimum* dose, after I imploded badly while recovering from shoulder surgery.

From: [identity profile] rmd.livejournal.com
yes yes yes. :-) i'm actually going a little faster than the nominal dosage frequency at the moment (about every 3 hours instead of every 4)-- the doctor said that i would likely need that at the beginning and less frequent after a week or so.

pain killers goood.

although a lot of what is bugging me at the moment is all the stitches and swelling and mucousy spooge triggering my gag reflex occasionally.

*hugs*

Feel free to call if there's anything you need. It gets a bit better after the 3rd day, or so it seemed with Ted, but definately do NOT let the pain get ahead of your meds - it will take much longer for them to kick in and overcome the pain if you wait too long to take them.

I'll think of you as I eat "shave-ice" here in Kona.

*hugs*

yay for finally getting the surgery, and yay that it seems there weren't any complications. I can wholeheartedly recommend not getting pneumonia.

the pain should abate after 3-5 days, followed by weeks of irritation.. :( but after that, no snoring! and fewer sore throats! yay!

*gentle hugs* Glad the surgery was successful, though I'm sorry it hurts so much. Hey, maybe you can try writing funky poetry while on narcotics. Worked for Coleridge!

Is this going to improve your apnea? Less dependence on the CPAP would make this worth it in the long run, I would think.
