small NLHE tournament. i wake up with cowboys and call a moderately large preflop raise. i put my opponent on a medium-high pair or AK/AQ/mmmmmmaybe AJ. flop comes all low cards, no blatant flush draw. so i push and go down to the felt. he calls. whew, he just has tens.

river gave him a set. fuckin river.

I have Q8 but I am in a loose game so I go with it, flop is A10J which puts me on a gunshot straght draw, looking for a K so I keep going. The other player is just calling me all the way through so I put him on a straight draw as well. River comes and I miss my straight but I think he has too and I am pot committed so I try to steal the pot with a quick, confident bet and don't fool the other guy who senses I am trying to steal so he calls. He has a pair of tens which beats my Queen high, oh well bonehead move, I think, then I look again the 9 on the river gave me the Queen high staight and the table was playing "Cards Speak" so I got the pot. After that everyone made sure to muck the board before I came up with another late straight for the rest of the night.
