so, i have this linux system, and i'd like a tool to rip cds to a lossless format and do sane file naming in conjunction with cddb lookups and such. anyone have favorites?
I use 'grip', which has a nice GUI, plugs into most ripping / encoder back ends, etc. It works best ripping to OGG format, but really it doesn't matter what the encoder is.
In Debian land, you need to dig around for the mp3 encoder. The ripper itself loads to .wav files, then you encode them to (mp3|ogg|whatever).
yeah -- grip looked interesting. i tried to load grip last night, but i ran into some libraries it needs or something. i figured i'd poke at it more today.
