If all goes as scheduled, my truck will be getting picked up today while I'm at work. I bought it in March 1996 after I moved to WA. I slept in the open back of it on the Olympic Peninsula, slept in it in campgrounds in California after I got the cap for the back. Slept in the driver's seat several times at rest areas in California and Oregon. Flipped down the tailgate and had meals and cooked in Washington, California, Oregon, Montana, and Idaho. I drove from Canada to Mexico in that truck, and from Washington to Massachusetts. I took a detour on that last trip just to get a picture of the truck in front of Devil's Tower, seen in the usericon of this post. I loaned it to people who drove it across the country and back, and loaned it to people who carried everything from stage equipment to furniture to pornography in more local trips.
It was a solid little truck - only had breakdowns a couple of times, and held up better than I expected, although its last decade was more sedentary as it was relegated to 'I need to tote large things' second vehicle status.
When I was cleaning it out, I found an emergency tampon in the glove compartment - quite a shock as I had the hysterectomy in 1998. The truck and I have been through a lot of changes over that time. Although when I bought it, I had no cats, and now that I'm getting rid of it, I also have no cats. So it feels a bit cyclical in that respect.
