extra-peeve: medical tests for which one must study.

What tests are you going in for?

oh, i don't know. i can see you as one of those witty sorts of nurses.

i'm getting a colonoscopy (just a baseline screening one). so i'm choking down a gallon of liquid cruft and spending the day on the pot. hooray for wireless internet.

Oh geez. My mother had that done a few months ago and she also complained bitterly about the whole "spend the day on the pot" thing.

I plan on attempting to talk P's physician into ordering one of those next month, because P's grandfather died of colon cancer in his early 50s.

yeah, from everything i've heard, the day-before prep is way more annoying and difficult than the test itself.

i certainly hope so. :-|

If they do like my dad and give you pretty pictures of your insides, scan and post them!

So you'll have to do this on a regular basis? :-(
Is the cruft flavored (strawberry? mint?)? Can you, um, wash it down with alcohol?
Good luck!

well, "regular basis" where the next time is (barring unforseen problems) something like 5 years from now.

it's part of the conspiracy to have me undergo every screening test known to man, woman, and medical science. having managed to survive cancer twice with nothing worse than a couple of scars, i'm all over prevention and screenings. (i also get mammograms and CAT scans, now, but those are less involved.)

it comes with several "flavor packets", so you can add whichever hint of flavor you want. (citrus berry, lemon/lime, cherry, orange, pineapple, and something else.) the flavoring doesn't add much flavor. it doesn't taste vile like milk of magnesia, but after three quarters of a gallon over a few hours, i started having trouble drinking more of it.

i'm otherwise on a "clear liquid" diet. bullion, jello, ginger ale, weak tea (without milk) etc. i've mostly been drinking ginger ale. i was speculating earlier if "vodka" qualified as a clear liquid.

I can't think of a liquid more clear than vodak, (or everclear). Still, probably a bad idea, unless you really like the color of the vial liquid and want to see it again.

sorry, babe.
