i've figured it out.

i've figured out one way to beat procrastination. or at least constrain it.

telling my gf that she is free to mock me if i *don't* get something done before she comes back appears to get me to do said thing. in this case, hanging a screen in the bedroom.

i forget if i'd i mentioned here that i'd been thinking i'd like a tv in the bedroom (among other things, the bedroom is air conditioned and the tv room is not), except there's no *room* for a tv in the bedroom that we could both watch, so i got a projector -- the kind you see in conference rooms in offices.

claudia's been out of town this weekend, and before she left, she'd suggested sitting around watching some of the stuff she had on her computer that we'd been meaning to watch (no, not pr0n you frickin pervs), and i explained that i'd rather wait and watch it once i'd hung the screen. i've been meaning to hang the screen for, well, several weeks.

and as part of the discussion around us not watching stuff that night on the projector, i promised that if she came back from her weekend away and i *hadn't* hung the screen, not only would we watch stuff on the wall, but that she could mock me for not having hung the screen yet.

her train was due in at 9:05pm. i finished hanging the screen at 8:50.

behold, the motivating power of the threat of mocking.

that totally works, too. i had to go buy stuff for thanksgiving (we're entertaining more people than we reasonably comfortably have silverware for, and we needed a tablecloth, not that you need the details). girlfriend was busy for most of the day, but it had to be done by the time she got back. i
had to brave the porter square star parking lot but it did get done by the time she got back.

Eric and I are trying a new system "work for golf". So, if the procrastination kicks in (like... bathroom tiled 3 years ago, one wall still not grouted) then it's "ONE WALL GROUTED == ONE GAME OF GOLF". Otherwise, NO! GOLF! FOR! HIM!!
