My dreams lately have sort of run the gamut from pedestrian to imaginative.

I dreamed about dealing with grain moths in my kitchen. (something I've dealt with in real life recently)

I dreamed that I was reading a new Alison Bechtel graphic novel about Paris in the 1920's, following an ensemble of queer folks. Several of the women had awesome flapper hairdos, all drawn in that Bechtel style. I had this dream shortly before waking up, and remember thinking that it was too bad I woke up because I wanted to read more of the graphic novel.

so, if you're donating stuff to the morgan memorial or rosie's place or someone like that, they often ask you to estimate the value of what you're donating for the receipt. is there a good ground rule for that with regard to, say, boxes of books, or bags of clothes?

also, i know the city of cambridge has a 'free book' area in the DPW recycling yard. Anyplace else for some kind of "leave some books, take some books" book recycling operation around locally? Most everything that would do well being resold to a mainstream used bookstore can likely find a home with some requestor at books for soldiers, but i've also got things like old tech manuals and such. I suppose I can always put them under my carport in a box, make a list of them, and post to gb-reuse/freecycle/craigslist and see how many are left after a few days.

also also, DAMN YOU, CITY SLICKER. city slicker keeps messing up my order. attempting to order a white pizza via foodler has failed several tomato-soaked times. and just last night, we ordered via telephone but they neglected to actually bring the caesar dressed part of our caesar salad on their first trip to my house. *shake fist*

also^3, i have decided that i am not nanowrimo'ing this year. perhaps next year i'll dive back into it.

so, there i was, standing in the server room at work, when i went to turn around and suddenly SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY KNEE. maybe a pop, maybe a grinding, just it hurt and i couldn't bend it. so i hobbled over, sat down on a convenient sitting-down-thing (a television on the floor, in this case), waited til the shocky lightheaded feeling faded, stood up, and then was sitting on the floor against the wall figuring out i had fainted.

stupid: all the office numbers for my coworkers that are saved in my cellphone are for the old office.

so, figuring that if i was lightheaded while sitting down, i'd best lay down. so i lay down on the floor, got my cellphone out, and called my boss on his cellphone, which hadn't changed when we changed offices. i'm glad my cellphone works in that room -- i'd have hated to try and get to the outside of the server room or reach one of the wall phones.

anyways, some of my coworkers came downstairs and we had a little party and got me in a chair and then the fabulous muffyjo drove me over to mt auburn where i tried to go to the walk in clinic but since i had passed out alone they sent me down to the ER.

i have no obvious fractures or other x-ray-visible problems. the knee isn't dislocated. it's probably some kind of meniscus fuckup, but i won't know more til a followup appt with an ortho. i have a number for a guy to call tomorrow.

i have a knee brace, a cane, and a car i can't drive, since my left knee is all fucked up and the mini is a standard. (the truck is a standard, too).

*sigh*
