this morning, i woke up and, among other early morning tasks, did a big cleaning of the litter boxes for the cats -- emptied them completely, scrubbed and cleaned them out, and refilled with fresh litter. so i had a couple of bags of heavy used cat litter. one of my next tasks was prepping the porch for heavy winds (i hadn't bothered previously since the storm winds weren't going to pick up before this morning). so i went onto the second floor porch, pulled the chairs inside, and flipped the table over. i looked at the fold-down leaf sections on the side of the table (which, in its current position, makes them fold-up leaf sections), thought about it for a moment, and proceeded to put a garbage bag full of dense cat litter on each leaf. given that we're looking at tropical storm rather than hurricane winds, i don't expect things to get bad enough that the table will blow away from its top-down position, but i figure the extra weight can't hurt.
next task up is laundry. i'm not sure i can find a tropical-storm-prep purpose for that.
oh, and tea. which is a vital part of storm prep for any condition.
