it's dark early, i'm puttering around with nothing important to do for the next few days besides have fun and hang out with friends and family, and my house currently reeks of tasty bread[1] that just came out of the oven.
ooooh, it's the homey part of the season. times like this, i miss having a fireplace.
i'm tempted to dig out the cookie press and make spritz cookies RIGHT NOW. i should wait at least a few days, tho, so they'll be fresher when i take them to work and inflict them on my coworkers.
[1] i was going to try the no-knead bread recipe everyone's been talking about, but i realized that i didn't have enough time to do that and have it ready to leave and go to dinner tomorrow. so i'm trying a new-to-me recipe for anadama bread. i didn't have really coarse stone-ground corn meal, so the texture won't be perfect, but it smells lovely and has a nice golden crust. i'm resisting cutting it up till tomorrow, but i'm suddenly wishing i'd calved off a bit of the loaf before baking to have a mini loaf tonite.
edited on saturday to add: holy crap, this bread is tasty. i'm having anadama toast for breakfast. yum!
