I was already planning to not go due to economics; I'm praying I get my first paycheque for this new job this week, otherwise paying bills next month will be an... interesting challenge.
At least that makes me feel less bad about bailing for the same reason. :-(
Who knows--I may drop in one night just to see if anyone I know is there (but no dance or anything else because no badge). This sucks.
Next year we'll all be independently wealthy and can get together at Norwescon to spec out the teleportation device between Chinese restaurants in Boston and Seattle.
I've already got my membership for Orycon this year, which I bought at Orycon last year. It's just a matter of scraping together hotel room money by then.
Anyway, it's a better con in many ways. The only drawback is that my con-going friends from Olympia only ever make it to Norwescon--which is odd, since it's not that much further to Portland from there than Seattle.
Maybe I'll start lobbying for those people to go to Orycon and then there will be no problem.
