if you've seen me crocheting a big pastel potholder over the past many months, you might be interested to know i declared it finished and send it off to my nephew's daughter. pics are here. I neglected to measure it, but there is a regular sharpie in some of the pics for scale.

it's intended to be a blanket that's about the right size for her in the car seat/baby bucket.

a couple of years, now. mostly potholders^W granny squares. not usually so large, tho. :) it's a good fidgety thing that keeps my hands busy and doesn't involve getting sucked into the internet while i'm doing something else.

kathrynt taught me on a previous trip out to seattle, then sent me home with a hook and some yarn.

Kathrynt is now a yarn goddess. Hee.

Yay that you *finished* such a big project! How very cool.

That came out very nice. I remember talking to you while you were working on it at Baitcon.

MORE SMALL POTHOLDERS. i mean granny squares.

i've been poking at some of the patterns in a book of 200 granny square patterns that i've got and done some of the easiest ones. i need to do more of those and then move on to slightly less easy ones.

also, perhaps another bout of square concatenation.

Very nicely done! I didn't know you knew how to crochet.

Speaking as a mom, having a blanket for the car seat is a great blessing.

Good for you!

Hope your knee is feeling better.

it would've been done about a month sooner except for bioshock and the orange box and xbox360 arcade. :-)

Those colors in that blanket just do *not* scream "RMD!" but I know the feeling of satisfaction with a job well done. Something I've been doing on and off for years is to use up my spare yarn making granny squares. Each "round" is a different color. Came in handy once when I decided to make a baby blanket: I just pulled out the squares, and I had more than enough for a baby blanket. Yes, it was work putting them together, but since all the squares were done, I had over half the blanket finished before I started.

There's no "rule" that you have to learn new stitches/squares. Do what you like!
