2008, good bye. while you kept me employed with a roof over my head and got me shacked up with my fabulous sweetie and generally had a few good things happen, you had far too many people getting sick and dead and otherwise negatively changed for my liking and i spent far too much of you being depressed and unhappy due to both internal and external factors. you did end on a very nice note, however.

2009, you're up. i'll settle for "substantially better than 2008", but do please shoot for "really quite excellent"
