I've used it from my home machine as a receiver (with my location set unavailable), not a transmitter, when asked to do so by someone who wanted me to know where they were. Thus the "mu."
I did test it on my handheld once, but on an old model sans GPS it's very slow and not that useful. Also, it drains batteries like crazy, so by default the "my location" and "join latitude" options are both disabled in my Google Maps app.
I'm mixed about it. The information is already being collected, after all. But of course large organizations such as TPC and Google have only our best interests at heart and wouldn't share that info to our detriment ever. Uh-huh.
Yeah, I've been aware of it for a while. I can see some value in having a record of my movement for applications that serve me, but I'm really not interested in sharing that record with anyone else.

It has a lot of potential even though the stated purpose of "see where your friends are so you can hang out" doesn't really interest me, the same way Twitter has a lot of potential even though a steady stream of "what are you up to?" updates doesn't really interest me...
