I will join the chorus of hate. Unlike calf cramps, I've never found a simple stretch that deals with thigh cramps.

FWIW, I take potassium before bed, especially if I've done any extra exercise during the day. Seems to help.

standing, bent over at the hips, leaning on my thigh to put pressure on the muscle in question seemed to help in this instance.

Water and electrolytes (particularly potasium) are important for cramps. Regular stretching (e.g. yoga) can also help a lot- at this point my yoga practice has gone to "every day."

I get quad cramps almost every night unless I take cal/mag before bed and hydrate well with plenty of electrolytes. Walking gently can help sort them out. So can benadryl if they're triggered by allergies. (That last is probably NOT the case for you, but the rest might help.)
