In the interests of banishing false modesty and encouraging the collective tooting of our own horns, I would like it if folks told me something about themselves that makes them awesome.

IT'S OWN YOUR OWN AWESOMENESS DAY!

(Actually, every day can be own your own awesomeness day!)

If you're having trouble with dropping false modesty and want to whisper your awesomeness instead of shout it from the hilltop, I've turned off IP tracking and anonymous comments are allowed (but screened because spammers aren't awesome) so you can share your awesomeness secretly if needed.

I'll start: I am awesome at diagnosing and solving problems, particularly on the fly.

I'm awesome because I'm trying to learn how to purl so I can make the Gryffindor scarf Isaac has requested. Bonus awesome: Isaac for wanting a homemade Gryffindor scarf from his mom :-)

I sing well, can make up my own harmonies, and am able to memorize vast amounts of music for my concerts.

I also am a pretty good cook.

"On the one hand, it was great to know there was something I could do that others couldn't. On the other hand, it was a little disappointing to realize it was the ability to endlessly push a pedal over and over."

Of course, I have about a milli-Stamstad's worth of awesome.

I also have a fairly awesome horse, whose trust (if not love) I've earned through repeated applications of Quantity Time and Not Being Mean.

I'm supremely adaptable, willing to learn, and find it easy to translate knowledge of concepts to arbitrary means of expressing those concepts. (E.g. programming methodologies, software design, computer languages, etc.)

And whose fly would that be?

I can make really pretty paste papers, which look even more awesome when I make them into books.

I want to figure out a way to do a group paste paper session/class. Problem is, for that I would need a biggish space, with tables, that we could splatter with paint.

I make words go. Sometimes I make them go vrooooooom. Other times they spiral lazily in a faint breeze, shimmering for an instant and then fading quietly into the springtime evening.

My intuition can be spookily accurate.

I belong when I'm with my friends who are awesome, brilliant, generous, creative, complex, and successful in what they choose to do.

I am full of awesome skills. I can sew, knit, solder, edit, sing, play instruments, write, and bake (though not all at once). I am pretty fast at learning new skills.

I give good advice.

I can really dance.

I am very smart, and currently, taking classes for fun, I am getting a lot of A's, even on diverse and random topics. (A beginning Spanish class in which I got an A for the course was last semester. This semester's astronomy class hasn't posted grades yet, but I got an A on the midterm, and A on the paper and I'm reasonably certain I did well on the final.)

I embark on crazy projects and draw inspiration from everywhere.

My sense of right and wrong is strong and difficult for me to leave aside. I can't stop analyzing for that, even in trashy fiction. This has caused trouble for me, sometimes, but I think it's a good quality.

I am funny, in conversation.

Maybe this is all too much to say, but this was somehow just what I needed, today, so I rolled with it.

Most of the time I interact with people and with moments in life as they are, instead of interacting with them as if they are the way I model them in my head to be. So I respond to a person or a day, and not to my hopes or fears of that person or that day. If this is too hard, I try to respond to the best-case scenario interpretation I can of what I'm experiencing, rather than my worst-case. I notice reductionist negative-interpretations arise in myself and observe them, but do not empower them.

I often interact with myself this way, although that is harder and I'm still learning.
