GIANT MECH PUNCHING GIANT KAIJU

rmdOkay, "Pacific Rim" was everything I expected it to be, which is to say: awesome big loud fun with very large mecha punching very large kaiju, a lot. Complete with managing to keep the aesthetic of "guy in a rubber suit" for the kaiju, a pleasant lack of "America, Fuck Yeah" and more "entire world kicking ass together".
Of course, I would've liked a few more female characters being badassed besides Mako. But still, it was large fun, and one of the better uses of 3d I've seen. Definitely worth seeing on a big screen with 3d if you can tolerate the 3dness.
Also, there's apparently a "design your own jaegar" site, which had led to the 4th string jaegers tumblr. Amusing.
