Anyone on my friends list have experience with the spamhaus DROP (Do Not Route Or Peer) list? Any info about how it is working out for you? I thought it was available via multihop BGP peering, but I don't see anything about that on the website for spamhaus or spamteq - just the rsync option.
I'm not an expert, but if you have specific questions, I'm camped in an IRC channel with a couple of them and would be happy to relay, or if'n you got complex questions, I could probably dig up an email address you could send them to.
I can tell you that it's a very tiny list, containing only the shittiest things: I think mostly malware C&C and virus payload sites and the like. It's not going to block near as much raw amounts of badness into your network than the CBL/PBL/XBL is. But the stuff that' it's going to block, you REALLY don't want.
Is it just rsyncing a file, or is there some remote router I can set up a some multi-hop BGP peering session with? The online docs vaguely mention BGP but I can't find anything definitive.
And, yeah, it mostly seems to be a supplement for bogon filtering.
Ah, cool. Based on their on-site docs, I can't figure out who I would talk to about paying. The spamhaus docs point to feed vendors who are all "HERE ARE RSYNC FEEDS OF THIS DATA MOSTLY THE RBL" and nothing about bgp.
