a birthday dinner, a wake, and my contribution to helping the homeless smell better

i just finished a shopping run to buy black knee highs ("trouser socks") and some new underwear for me, and over $200 worth of stuff to drop off at rosie's place: underwear in many sizes, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, and bunches of toiletries like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, mouthwash, q-tips, deoderant, etc, some of which is in travel sizes and some of which is not. some time in the next week or so, i'll drop it by rosie's place.

today i've also made a cash donation to the development fund of boston's long island shelter for the homeless, in memory of my uncle johnny, who was very involved with them and who did a lot of work with and for them.

i feel so virtuous.

johnny's wake was tonite. his funeral is tomorrow morning. after seeing various relatives at the wake, i must say that many of my cousins are really starting to look like their parents. :-)

after the wake, my parents and brother john and brother ed and nephew al and his wife jenny-lee all went out to dinner to celebrate my birthday, which was entirely pleasant.

OMG! Happy birthday! And good on you for giving Rosie's Place such a great present.
