... no, literally. well, more like the hip, really, but the ass, too.

a few years ago, i think around the time of one of my road trips down into california, where i'd sit in the truck all day for several days, and even slept in the truck....

well, the foam in the seat under my left leg started splitting. about a year ago, it was to the point where i needed some kind of padding under my leg to keep it comfortable, since the foam split away to reveal a support piece under the fabric.

and now, it's to the point where part of the hinge is right against the fabric. i've got some foam and some fabric, but it's just not doing the job. so i'm thinking it's time to bite the bullet and just have the seat replaced or something.

suggestions for a local (to me) place that will do this? anyone happen to know how much the driver's seat for a chevy S-10 truck would cost? (1996 model year)

thanks!

Look in the yellow pages under "Auto Upholstery." There's a place that Bikeworx uses for motorcycle seats; if Bikeworx uses them I imagine they'd be pretty good. Call them and ask.

You can probably get the seat recovered in factory-like material for a couple hundred bucks or so.

We used to get our at the junkyard. Then find a garage to replace it. My father was really hard on seats and would need them replaced every 1.5-2 years.
