It's so stressful! I'm 36 now, and I pondered whether to do the amnio. I decided I'll see how the Nuchal Fold testing, and then the Level II ultrasound look. The nuchal fold was great, like 1: 20,000 for Downs, 1:5,000 for Trisomy 18 and similar for 13. I go for the Level II the earliest day possible, and if something looks weird I'll go directly for an amnio.
I was 37 when I had Jet, and I wasn't offered a nuchal fold, and the amnio couldn't really be done until week 20 and that's SO far along... I'm so glad to know that there's now at least something available to clarify the odds a little. Sounds like you'll be fine with the new odds, and I know, intimately, how nice it is to at least know the odds are That Much better.
