having to give a partial cat bath to one of the cats last night who had ... issues. could've been much worse, but still, not something i planned on having to get out of bed and do right after going to bed.

I had to do that with Thor last August when Kathryn & Erik were in California. If it isn't fun with your own cat, it's even less fun with someone else's cat. But all turned out well, as Kathryn made me a fantastic laceweight shawl as a thank you present for chasing her cat around the house with a wet cloth and scissors and nearly loosing an eye. :)
