i'm used to the cats (usually the shorthaired one) walking on my keyboard. but this morning, she managed to get my monitor into menu mode.
this meets my quota of boring cat posts.

as for un-cat-related things, man, it's really hard to shift patterns of behavior and thought. particularly when part of your brain, however misguidedly, is convinced that it's *good* to keep with these crufty old patterns. HELLO, BRAIN, NOT HELPING.

*sigh*

stupid lack of debuggers for my head. although if i had one, i'd have to be careful about setting breakpoints incorrectly or something. so maybe it's good that i dont' have one.

in other other news, perhaps as a reaction to working on emotional crap in my head, the overintellectual side of my head is being obsessed with antennae. particular for wifi stuff with an eye towards direction finding. as more AP's appear in my neighborhood, i'm curious where they are.
i've been perusing some of my antenna-related books, and may end up building something in a bit.

and in drug-related news, i was intruiged by the single-serving teapot at www.adagio.com, so i bought one and it works great. i brewed up a nice cup of irish breakfast tea in it this morning. the only bug i've found so far is that while it's dishwasher save it is somewhat awkward to put in the dishwasher (either that, or i'd have to pop the top on and off, and it doesn't look like it's designed to do that without fatiguing the little plastic ears on the hinge). also, i suspect that if i let the steeped tea leaves dry and then tried to clean it, i might end up having a hard time cleaning the filter. but that's easily avoided. and, of course, if you're dumping the tea into an opaque container, there's the risk of overfilling since you can't see into the lower cup. but overall review is that it makes a spiffy cup of tea. and now i have more options for single-servings of tea at home. (where "more" is "more than one". helpful when guests don't share my tea preference)

For me, visiting the ocean is like running a debugger for my brain. I do highly recommend it. It helps to slow down the emotional analysis process long enough for me to get enough perspective and to get back to being in the middle of the emotional analysis process.

Maybe you can put the teapot in the dishwasher when you simply want to sterilize it?

cute!

have you seen the bluetooth sniper rifle (http://www.tomsnetworking.com/Sections-article106.php)? i do like mounting the antenna on a rifle stock.

Yeah, I am sure of the wisdom of grownups running aiming things that look like rifles however.

That's a really nifty tea maker. But yes, Tea creates a wonderful stain on things like mugs.

I mostly use ceramic mugs, and I clean the tea stain with bleach. Use about
a tablespoon or 2 of good ole bleach (essentially pour in "a little bleach") and fill the rest of the cup with water (Might be a good idea to mostly fill the cup with water first, so if there's any splashing, you don't bleach your clothing by accident). Let sit for an hour, or overnight, or however long it takes til you notice that the tea stain's all gone. Then pour it down the drain, and rinse/wash the cup until the smell of bleach goes away.

oh, i don't mean tea-stains. i'm more concerned with little bits of tea that get wedged in the screen. in my regular infusers, i can scrub on both sides which serves to free up any trapped leaves that get wedged there. with this, i only have access to one side of the filter. but as long as i rinse it while it's wet, it shouldn't be a problem.

for mugs, i just scrub it with a scrubby sponge if i notice a buildup. most of the time i just put them in the dishwasher and don't have any problem. but most of the time i don't leave the tea in the mug long enough for it to stain. :-)

I am very familiar with this feeling. I suspect that the old patterns can't be erased, just overlaid with new ones that work better. Even then it takes time to convince yourself that the new patterns are better, and eventually you'll probably have to overlay some of them in turn. Familiarity is a powerful thing.

Mmmm, tea. I tend to get the paper sacks into which one can put loose tea for single-serving purposes.

And vaguely related to the search for access points, as well as absurdly funny, have you seen the Warkayaking (http://features.engadget.com/entry/5068632431817387/) how-to?

So these two antennas meet on top of a building. They fall in love, then get married.

The wedding wasn't anything special, but the reception was terrific!
