nothing like a power outage to get me to unlame enough to put my computer and network gear on a small UPS.

also: peeve! a few months ago, i ordered a memory upgrade from dell for my desktop machine. and, since they know the service tag, they should've been able to determine correctly what type of memory i could take, RIGHT? wrong. they apparently sent me a totally wrong item. not like "gee, there's a timing mismatch" kind of wrong. we're talking DOESN'T EVEN FIT IN THE FUCKING SLOT type of wrong.

fuckers.

i'll see if it fits anything else i own before calling them up and bitching them out.

why the FUCK isn't postfix starting when the machine reboots? it's in /etc/init.d, the symbolic links from the /etc/rc.d/rc?.d directories look like all the rest of the scripts. running it by hand generates no errors.

fucking linux.

aside from my previous bitching today, things are actually pretty good. the house is fairly clean, freeing me up to catch up on some of the deeper cleaning/organizing tasks around the house. i feel ... productively slothful. or slothfully productive. or something.
